BOOKSMILE is a new publisher based in Lisbon, Portugal.
The project has been developed for the last two years with the help of Booktailors, the leading local editorial consultancy firm.
Although new to the market, BOOKSMILE will benefit from the management’s intimate knowledge of the business for 30 years, and will have access to the required resources and funds for a fast and successful launch in 2009.

PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION

BOOKSMILE will publish 25 titles in 2009, mainly in co-edition, with a projected cruise speed of 60 titles per year.
Our books will be sold through bookshops, supermarkets, and convenience stores with a dedicated national sales force to support the full catalogue. We aim no less than to be market leaders in our segment.
BOOKSMILE WILL BE THE LEADING IMPRINT IN PICTURE AND GIFT BOOKS IN PORTUGAL AND WE WILL ACHIEVE IT TOGETHER WITH OUR PUBLISHING AND DISTRIBUTION PARTNERS.

Several of our titles will be part of well-defined, distinctive collections either put up by ourselves or by the original publisher.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We intend to start building up our catalogue mainly through international co-editions, but we also consider purchasing foreign rights for local production. We are also interested in establishing long-term partnerships with publishers worldwide.
